Gravel bikes are built for speed, efficiency, and versatility on mixed surfaces. Whether you're exploring backroads, tackling long gravel routes, or lining up for endurance events, they deliver a responsive ride with confident handling. A balanced geometry, lower bottom bracket, and clearance for wider tires provide stability and comfort across changing terrain, while a wide gear range helps conquer steep climbs. Many gravel bikes also include mounts for bags and accessories, making them ideal for everything from day rides to lightweight bikepacking.
Adventure bikes are designed to take you farther with comfort, capability, and confidence. Optimized for extended rides, rugged terrain, and fully loaded bikepacking, they feature a more stable geometry, increased tire clearance, and additional mounting points for racks, bags, and gear. Their upright riding position reduces fatigue over long distances, allowing you to venture deeper into the unknown—whether you're crossing mountain passes, exploring remote forest roads, or embarking on multi-day expeditions.
The primary differences between gravel and all-road tyres are their tread patterns, construction, and intended use. Gravel tyres are designed to maximise traction and control on loose surfaces, with more pronounced tread that provides confident grip on gravel, dirt, and rough terrain while maintaining efficient rolling on hard-packed roads. All-road tyres prioritise versatility, offering a smoother centre tread for fast, efficient rolling on pavement and sealed roads, with textured shoulders to provide added confidence when the route transitions to gravel or unsealed paths. They also typically feature durable casings and enhanced puncture protection, making them well suited for long-distance rides, touring, commuting, and everyday exploration across a wide variety of surfaces.
A gravel bike is designed for off-road adventure rides and races on dirt roads, gravel paths, or country lanes. A gravel bike often has wide, tubeless tyres and a relatively long wheelbase for stability and comfort, as well as mounts for carrying gear when bikepacking or touring.
Some gravel bikes feature front suspension, others do not. Suspension adds comfort and control. A rigid fork shaves weight and keeps things fast and responsive.
The Revolt X is designed for the roughest gravel terrain and features a 40mm suspension fork. While improving handling and control, a suspension fork also adds weight and may not be necessary on all types of terrain.
Giant’s Revolt prioritises efficiency and features a rigid composite fork which is lighter and more efficient but does not offer the same level of impact absorption.
