Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Giant provide these certificates?
E-Bikes and the lithium-ion batteries used to power these e-micromobility devices are now ‘declared electrical articles’ under the Gas and Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2017 (the Act). This means that these products must comply with the prescribed mandatory safety standards before they can be sold in NSW.
These documents are provided to support transparency and to demonstrate that the listed Giant and Liv E-Bikes, E-Bike batteries and related chargers sold in New South Wales meet the related safety and compliance requirements.
Do these certificates apply to all Giant and Liv e-bikes?
The certificates listed on this page apply to specific Giant and Liv E-bike models, E-Bike batteries and related chargers sold in New South Wales.
What is an EPAC certification?
Certification confirms that the listed product(s) comply with the prescribed New South Wales safety standards related to the sale of lithium-ion e-micromobility products.
Why are some products listed as “power supplies” instead of chargers?
For certain high-voltage (48V) e-bike systems, charging is managed by the battery’s internal battery management system (BMS). In these cases, the external unit supplies regulated power and is certified as a power supply rather than a standalone battery charger.
How do I know if my specific e-bike or battery is covered?
Certification depends on the model year of the e-bike, the motor system, battery type and charger. Only models outlined on this page have received certification. For specific questions, customers are encouraged to contact their authorised Giant retailer or Giant Australia customer support.
