Singletrack Magazine put the 2019 Trance Advanced Pro 29 to a long-term test and posted a review to its website and also in an-depth video feature. Reviewer Wil Barrett reported on all the new design and technology details of this composite-framed trail bike and described his impressions from a four-month session on the Trance Advanced Pro 1 model.

Looking at the updated Maestro suspension system, which gives riders 115mm of travel in the rear and 130mm up front, Barrett wrote: “There’s a superb [Fox] 34 Float fork up front, and a Fox Float DPX2 shock out back. A piggyback on a 115mm travel isn’t exactly a common sight, but the impressive damping control is a significant contributor to this bike’s descending nous.”

Barrett also pointed out how the Giant TRX 1 WheelSystem, which features hookless carbon rims and a 30mm internal width, comes set up with tubeless tires right out of the box: “Giant includes sealant and a valve core tool in the box, so all you need to do is remove the valve cores, dump a bottle of sealant into each wheel, and away you go. How good is that?”

As for the ride, Barrett claimed in his video: “This bike is hugely confident on the descents, really a lot more than a bike with just 115 millimeters of [rear] travel should have. It just feels planted, and all it wants you to do is just go faster. The Trance 29 is so stable and so sorted with its geometry that you can get away with a lot on this bike.”
