Handcrafted with superlight Advanced SL Composite, this World Cup-bred 29er blends the lightning fast efficiency of a hardtail with innovative frame engineering for added compliance and control on the trail. New frame technologies include leaner seatstays and a narrower seattube that’s designed to work with the 27.2mm Contact SLR Composite seatpost for a smoother, more confident ride.
Giant’s innovative oversized fork steerer-tube design produces razor-sharp handling on rough XC trails. The tapered steerer and oversized bearings (1-1/4-inch top, 1-1/2-inch bottom) boost torsional steering stiffness so you can ride with more power and confidence.
29er Specific Geometry
Every Giant 29er features custom designed geometry for the perfect blend of smooth, stable trail control and sharp handling.
Giant engineers use FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to develop a strategic layup schedule of Uni-directional and woven composite. This ensures that the precise amount of composite material is used in the areas that require it and minimizes excess material where the structure does not. The result is a perfect balance between weight and strength.
Advanced SL-Grade Composite
The highest performance T-800 raw carbon-fiber material is woven at Giant’s own composite factory to create the most cutting-edge frames available today. Handcrafted with the most advanced methods including Fusion assembly, Carbon Nanotubes and Continuous Fiber technologies to minimize weight, optimize stiffness and improve overall frame strength.
Engineered Vertical Compliance
The seattube features a narrower shape that’s System Engineered to work with the new 27.2mm Contact SLR Composite post for a smoother ride quality. The seatstays are also leaner, producing up to 30 percent more vertical compliance than other composite XC bikes in its category.
Internal Seatpost Clamp
A lightweight, all-internal seatpost locking mechanism provides confident clamping force with clean performance and aesthetics.
A massive rectangular downtube and oversized toptube work in unison to provide superior front-end lateral and torsional steering precision. The rectangular downtube produces unprecedented pedaling stiffness and sharp trail handling.
The oversized bottom bracket and chainstay area features a fully integrated 89.5mm wide BB design. Asymmetric chainstays provide additional stiffness on the driveside and stability on the non-driveside.
