Tester Taylor Rojek wrote that the overall performance and value of the Stance 29, which features an ALUXX aluminum frame with FlexPoint rear suspension, caught the attention of Bicycling's editors, who looked at hundreds of new models and narrowed them down to their favorites for their 2020 Bike Awards.
"This $1,550 mountain bike is the kind of bike that I would recommend, without reservation as to quality or ride, to anyone looking to save money on a full-suspension 29er,” Rojek wrote. “It’s a pretty rare and wonderful find. The Stance 29 2 is new for 2020—Giant has had a Stance 27.5 model for several years now, but this is the first year it gets bigger wheels.”
In her review, Rojek highlighted three things she loved most about the Stance 29 2 model that she tested: it’s 1x12 drivetrain, lightweight aluminum frame, and wide gear range. “This is what makes the Stance 29 2 magical,” she wrote. “On this bike, everything works well together. It’s only when you mash them together that you get something amazing.”
Summing it up, Rojek wrote: “Overall, the Stance 29 2 is a bike that will help you get into new adventures, whether that’s increasing your fitness, getting rad on tough trails, or even just arriving to work feeling calm and happy.”
