Bicycling Features Contend in Its 2017 Buyer's Guide!

Product

In its new 2017 Buyer’s Guide, Bicycling Magazine highlights the 2017 Contend as a top choice for road bikes under $1000.

In her review, Bicycling’s Taylor Rojek writes: “We recommend the $810 Giant Contend 1, which feels and looks way more expensive than it actually is. The butted aluminum frame, a mash-up of Giant’s racy TCR and endurance-focused Defy, cherry-picks the best geometry attributes from each: the TCR’s snappy rear end with the more upright and stable front from the Defy.”

As for the ride quality of the Contend, Rojek writes: “The bike feels smooth and quick on all manner of road surfaces, from chunky asphalt to potholed dirt. Its 20.1-pound weight is on the low side for a bike at this price, and I was pleasantly surprised by how efficient it felt, even on super-steep climbs. Best of all, I had a ton of fun—even when I was with friends who were riding high-end wonderbikes.”
