Bike Magazine published a review of the Reign SX 29, detailing its technologies and special build that’s aimed at aggressive terrain. Tester Sam McMain put the enduro machine with 29-inch wheels to the test on the famously steep and technical trails of Vancouver, British Columbia, and concluded that it’s a great all-rounder for this type of rugged terrain.

“The Reign SX 29 is basically a monster truck on the trail, but one with a spandex-wearing alter ego,” McMaim wrote. “In addition to its trail-smashing tendencies, it gets along up the hill in a surprisingly agreeable fashion.”

The Maestro rear suspension system, which delivers 146mm of smooth, active travel with a trunnion mount shock and Advanced Forged Composite rocker arm, gives the Reign SX 29 a confident feel on challenging terrain, McMaim wrote.

“The bike kept composure in fast, hard hits and the long-ish, 439-millimeter chainstays really helped with stability as well,” he wrote. “Especially with Maestro suspension that lengthens the rear end under deeper compressions. Big hits felt very controllable, as the bike actually becomes more stable the farther you go into travel. That longer, 170-millimeter fork probably helps too. The chassis is plenty stiff, as are the wheels, so I was rolling tires before flex really became an issue on hard landings or pushing into turns.”
