Flow Mountain Bike published a review of the all-new Trance 29, praising everything about it from its smooth and active Maestro rear suspension to its trail-ready components including the Giant TRX 1 carbon WheelSystem on theTrance 29 1 model that they tested, along with the new Contact Switch dropper post and Contact saddle.
“This bike is a lively little thing,” Flow wrote. “It loves to pump the terrain below you, and rewards your effort with a highly engaging ride.”
Describing the trail manners of the Trance 29, and what type of riding it’s made for, Flow wrote: “The Trance is a short travel bike that punches way above its weight; we found ourselves going just as hard on the Trance as we were on far bigger bikes and it felt fantastic.”
Test riders were particularly impressed with the updated Maestro suspension system, which offers 115mm of rear travel, along with trail-specific frame geometry made for a 120mm suspension fork.
“We’re used to categorizing bikes by wheel size and suspension travel amount,” Flow wrote.“But with the advancements in suspension technology and a better understanding of how all the elements of mountain bike design come together, bikes like the Trance 29 need not be defined by the quantity of suspension, rather the quality of it.”
