Introducing: Expanded New Range of Contend Road Bikes!

Monday, 8 July 2019

An all-new range of Contend road bikes is being introduced for model year 2020, with more options than ever before in this versatile collection of aluminum road machines.

The new range consists of the Contend SL Disc, Contend SL, Contend and Contend AR. Each is designed with a lightweight aluminum frame that delivers a balanced blend of confident, comfortable rider positioning and nimble road handling and acceleration.

Contend road bikes have always been about versatility and performance for a variety of riders, especially those looking to advance their fitness, skills and road riding capabilities. It’s an adaptable collection of confident, efficient and comfortable road bikes with purpose-built frame geometry and performance-oriented components including D-Fuse seatpost technology for added compliance, Giant Tubeless System wheels and tires, and integrated disc brakes on some models.

The new models are designed with lightweight aluminum frames (either ALUXX SL or ALUXX) and Advanced-grade composite forks (on most models) to deliver a balanced blend of confident, comfortable rider positioning and nimble road handling and acceleration. The frames include some of the same features as Giant’s high-performance models including the OverDrive steerer tube for precision cornering capabilities, MegaDrive downtube for torsional frame stiffness, PowerCore bottom bracket area for pedaling efficiency, and internal cable routing for a clean look and performance.

Here’s a look at what’s new with each of the new Contend models:

Engineered with Giant’s lightweight ALUXX SL aluminum frame technology, the all-new Contend SL Disc delivers a confident ride quality that’s lightweight, compliant and balanced for a wide variety of road riding enthusiasts. Seamless disc-brake integration gives you added control regardless of road or weather conditions, and the innovative D-Fuse composite seatpost dampens road vibrations. Added tire clearance (up to 32c) means you can now run larger volume tires for a smoother ride quality, and our Giant Tubeless System improves rolling efficiency and grip while minimizing the risk of flats.

Engineered with the same ALUXX SL aluminum frame material and balanced geometry as the Contend SL Disc, this series features rim brakes for lightweight performance and easy maintenance. Just like the disc-brake version, the rear triangle is designed for quick acceleration, while the front end puts the rider in a confident position for comfort and control. The D-Fuse composite seatpost dampens road vibrations and a tubeless WheelSystem gives it a smooth ride on all types of road surfaces. This model features frame and fork clearance for up to 28c tires.

Designed and developed for aspiring riders looking to elevate their experience on the road, Contend offers responsive acceleration and a confident rider position. The innovative D-Fuse seatpost helps reduce road shocks and vibrations, and there’s enough frame and fork clearance to run tires up to 28c to further smooth out the ride. Engineered and built in Giant’s industry-leading aluminum forging facility, it’s a true all-rounder for ambitious road riders.

This all-new series combines a smooth, responsive ride quality with the ability to handle more rugged roads. Its disc-brake integration and added frame and fork clearance (up to 38c) for its Giant Tubeless System wheels offer added control on rougher roads. A D-Fuse composite seatpost dampens road vibrations, producing a more enjoyable ride experience and minimizing fatigue. This is a true all-rounder for road riders who have a thirst for adventure.
