Gutierrez Scores Podium at Fort William BDS Race!
The second round of the 2017 British Downhill Series offered a preview of the upcoming World Cup race at Fort William, Scotland, in three weeks, and Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Marcelo Gutierrez was there to tackle the notorious track known for its challenging terrain and conditions.
Riding his Glory Advanced team bike, Gutierrez put in a strong performance, finishing on the podium against some strong competition.
Gutierrez was consistent throughout the weekend in Scotland. He set the fastest speed in the speed trap, was fifth fastest in qualifying, and finished fourth in the finals.
“I have to say, I was really focused,” Gutierrez said. “I got my first ever World Cup podium here at Fort William and was motivated after my third place at the World Cup opener in Lourdes. Since 2013 I’ve experienced difficult conditions and weather here, years in which races were canceled, modified, or I’ve run into mechanical difficulties. Finally I had a good race and that leaves me satisfied and motivated for the World Cup here in three weeks.”
Gutierrez currently sits third overall in the World Cup series after one round. The series continues with Round 2 at Fort William on June 3.
