BikeRadar put the new Contend road bike to the test recently, analyzing the all-rounder abilities of the entry-level road bike and giving it a “very good” 4-star ranking.
“The Contend combines a well-proven geometry with wise component choices to create a budget-friendly bike that rides well above its price point,” wrote BikeRadar staff writer Colin Levitch.
Describing the ride quality of the ALUXX aluminum frameset, Levitch reports: “On smooth roads, the Contend feels connected to the road, but doesn’t feel dead, as can happen with some bikes in this category.”
Levitch also praised the Contend’s wide gear range along with its Giant wheels and tires, writing: “The alloy wheels are 17mm wide between the tire bead and support the 25c rubber nicely, and the tires proved decent grip and not too much rolling resistance.”
Summing up his findings, Levitch wrote: “For new riders or those looking for a daily commuter, the performance and the price on offer with the Contend are hard to pass up.”
