With winter riding season in full swing, pinkbike.com rounded up seven of this year's best cool-weather kits for mountain biking and reported their findings. Among their favorites was a collection of Giant apparel including the Transfer Long Sleeve Jersey, Transfer Shorts and ProShield MTB Jacket.

“Giant is not the first name you would think of for winter cycling apparel, but they offer a wide variety of well thought out cycling-specific items” wrote pinkbike.com tester Pierce Martin. “From arm warmers to cycling balaclavas, you are bound to be able to find an option to serve your cold-weather needs available at your local Giant dealer.”

Riding in typically cold, wet winter conditions in the Pacific Northwest, testers found that the ProShield MTB jacket provided ample protection and comfort. “The seams are fully taped, and the wrist and neck openings seal up nicely and did a good job keeping moisture out when things got nasty out,” Martin wrote. “This is a solid choice considering the stretch fabric, the optional hood, and the overall bang for the buck as compared to some other jackets out there.”

The jersey was also a hit. “Giant’s Transfer long sleeve jersey is a very lightweight and breathable base layer made from TransTextura fabric with mesh at the back and sides for extra breathability,” Martin wrote. “[It] works well as both a standalone jersey for warmer fall days, or as a base layer under a jacket to provide wicking and extra warmth on colder days.”
