XC riding has evolved. Racetracks are more demanding and trails more technical than ever. The composite XCR WheelSystem is built for this, with wide 30mm inner rim widths and durable 3.5mm hookless rim walls. Our optimized carbon lay-up process also keeps the weight down, giving you race-winning efficiency and total confidence on the toughest XC terrain.

Key Performance Factors

MAXIMUM DURABILITY

Hookless rim technology offers consistent carbon fiber structure as rim bead reinforcement widens the tops of the rim sidewalls to 3.5mm, dispersing impact load and increasing durability.

OPTIMAL EFFICIENCY

Dynamic Balanced Lacing balances spoke tension under pedaling force for improved power transfer. This, combined with a wide spoke bracing angle and a fast-engaging 54T DT350 hub, maximizes efficiency.

STABILITY AND CONTROL

30mm inner width increases support for wider tires, improving stability under hard cornering and on technical terrain.

Highlights

Attack the trail with total confidence. Our re-designed rim structure and optimized carbon laminate combine with tried and tested Dynamic Balanced Lacing to create XC wheels that are light enough to conquer the steepest climbs, yet strong enough to attack the most technical descents with pinpoint control.

Techs & Features

Dynamic Balanced Lacing

Since its introduction in 2015, Dynamic Balanced Lacing (DBL) has been the cornerstone of Giant WheelSystems. DBL ensures that spokes are set for optimal tension when under dynamic load, resulting in enhanced durability and pedaling efficiency. The enlarged DBL hub flange also increases the spoke bracing angles, which boosts overall torsional/transmission and lateral stiffness for better power transfer and more stable sprinting.

Hookless Rim Design

Hookless rim design enhances overall durability, offers a wider inner rim width without adding extra weight and also helps create a more round tire shape providing superior grip and handling as well as added sidewall support when cornering. Additionally, without the rim hook to “push” the tire bead inward, hookless rim design offers a more seamless airflow between the tire and the sidewall of the rim, resulting in less drag and improved aero performance when compared to standard hook-type rims.
