FLYING IN THE FACE OF TRADITION

From elite World Cup competition to local races in neighborhood parks, Giant’s TCX range has long been a winning choice for cyclocross racers of all levels. With countless professional race wins, world championships and national titles to its name, TCX has been on the leading edge of innovation in the sport since 2003.

In many ways cyclocross is a conservative discipline, steeped in history and committed to tradition. But TCX has always been about looking forward. Beyond the high-profile race wins, it has a track record of developing new advancements for pros, refining them on the racecourse, and then making those technologies available to everyone.

TCX got its start as an aluminum frameset developed exclusively for racers. That original 2003 frame was the world’s first ’cross bike with compact geometry. It even offered the option to use disc brakes years before most racers had ever thought about abandoning cantilevers. Four years after that original frameset hit the scene, TCX became available as a complete bike for the first time. It was built on a lightweight ALUXX SL aluminum frame with a composite fork.

In 2011, the TCX Advanced SL became the first production cyclocross bike made with a full composite frame and fork. In 2013, TCX again made history when Dutch pro Lars van der Haar, riding a prototype model, became the first rider to win a World Cup on a bike with disc brakes. Soon after that, in 2014, our first D-Fuse seatpost—a design featuring a D-shaped shaft for added compliance, a smoother ride and improved control on rough terrain—made its debut on the TCX range. D-Fuse technology was later applied to our endurance road bikes and gravel bikes with great success, causing other brands to attempt similar designs.

Over the years, Giant engineers and developers have worked closely with racers including 2008 world champion Lars Boom, nine-time World Cup winner Lars van der Haar, and 2016 Under-23 world champion Joris Nieuwenhuis. Each of these riders reached the pinnacle of their careers racing on TCX bikes that were ahead of the game. In more recent years we have partnered with a new generation of racers including two-time Canadian men’s national champion Michael van den Ham.

THE ALL-NEW TCX ADVANCED PRO CONTINUES A 17-YEAR RUN OF CYCLOCROSS INNOVATION

WHILE THE TCX HAS ALWAYS BEEN A RACE-BRED CYCLOCROSS MACHINE, WITH THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS TO PROVE IT, IT IS EQUALLY ADEPT AT TURNING UP THE SPEED ON ROADS, GRAVEL AND DIRT.

Its constant innovations and refinements not only give riders an edge in race performance, but also make it a smoother riding, more capable machine that’s super versatile on mixed terrain.

This all-new TCX Advanced Pro continues that progression, raising the bar as the most well-rounded TCX yet. For starters, the new TCX Advanced Pro boasts significantly lighter weight while retaining the same class-leading stiffness as its predecessor. The frame and fork have been reengineered, which together offer a weight savings of 260 grams. The Advanced-grade composite frameset is 200 grams lighter than the previous generation, 850 grams versus 1050 grams. Asymmetrical chainstays maximize power transfer and a redesigned fork, also made with Advanced-grade composite, is 60 grams lighter, 400 grams compared to 460 grams for the previous version.

These weight reductions and engineering breakthroughs make this TCX more agile and responsive on roads, dirt, sand, and whatever else the course might throw at you. It’s faster up climbs, easier to hoist over your shoulder, and quicker in sprints.

Beyond its improved agility and acceleration, the new TCX Advanced Pro is also smoother riding. Most models come with a new full-carbon D-Fuse SLR seatpost, which is 20 percent more compliant than the existing D-Fuse SL. Also new this year is the option to switch to a standard 30.9 round seatpost—or even a dropper seatpost depending on your riding style and terrain.

CYCLOCROSS RACING CAN BE A GAME OF CENTIMETERS.

THE NEW TCX ADVANCED PRO IS THE CULMINATION OF NEARLY TWO DECADES OF INCREMENTAL ADVANCEMENTS. SO WHETHER YOU RACE EVERY WEEKEND, OR YOU JUST WANT A LITTLE MORE SPEED, EFFICIENCY AND CONTROL ON YOUR LOCAL LOOPS, THIS IS THE BIKE TO CONQUER ALL CONDITIONS.
