Monday 23 March 2020

Cycling Plus magazine and its partner website published its 2020 Bike of the Year awards, and the Defy Advanced Pro took top honors. The Defy Advanced Pro 2 model beat all other competitors, including entries from Trek, Bianchi and Canyon, to win the Best Endurance Bike of the Year title.

The test team from BikeRadar/Cycling Plus wrote that they were “smitten with the Defy’s handling” and described its ride performance as “responsive without feeling twitchy.” Built for long days in the saddle, the Defy Advanced Pro  delivered “comfort in spades” during the test.

Editors credited Giant’s D-Fuse technology, including the seatpost and handlebars for smoothing out rough roads, claiming the innovative components worked “harmoniously” to dampen road bumps and vibrations. They also said the Defy expands the possibilities of road riding, commenting about how the it excelled on rough roads and gravel during multi-surface rides.

Testers appreciated the Defy’s composite Giant WheelSystem and Gavia Fondo tubeless tires, claiming they give the Defy Advanced Pro a “rewardingly flighty feel” with “all-weather grip.”

Summing it up, editors wrote that the Defy Advanced Pro was the best of the bunch for 2020, claiming this is a bike where “high performance and high value meet in a fun-packed ride.”
