The Giant Factory Off-Road Team wrapped up its week at the Crankworx Whistler Mountain Bike Festival in British Columbia, Canada, with several more top-10 finishes to add to Jacob Dickson’s podium finish in the Garbanzo Downhill.

Marcelo Gutierrez, a five-time winner of the Garbanzo DH, missed out on his chance to extend his win streak in that event when a crash derailed his run, but he bounced back to finish sixth in the Air DH event and 10th in the Canadian Open DH.

The Air DH event, always a fan favorite at Crankworx Whistler, is a chance for riders to show off their speed and style on the famous A-Line track. This fast and flowy run is a 2.8km long rollercoaster of speed with dozens of jumps and high banked turns.

“A-Line is always a crazy race,” said Gutierrez, who scored the sixth-place finish on his Reign Advanced bike. “It’s hard to pin it on this track, and you have to push your limits quite a bit, committing and hoping the berms will give you the support you need. I had a good run. I can’t say I didn’t make any mistakes, but I committed myself and enjoyed it.”

The final race of the week was the Canadian Open DH, a single-run blast down some of the most technical, rooty and rocky terrain at Whistler. Gutierrez, riding his Glory Advanced team bike and wearing Giant Shuttle shoes, again led the team with a 10th place finish.

“It was a rough and loose track as expected,” Gutierrez said. “Short and intense, but also fun.”
