BikeRadar published a new review of the Revolt Advanced, giving the high-performance gravel bike a near-perfect score of 4.5 stars (out of 5) and naming it one of its 2019 Bikes of the Year.
“The Revolt feels phenomenally smooth on every surface, from broken tarmac to rocky trails at 35psi, and even with 50psi in the tires, the floaty ride was still mightily impressive,” wrote tester Robin Wilmott.
Wilmott reported on some of the new technologies in the Revolt Advanced, describing the key factors including its innovative D-Fuse seatpost and handlebar that help produce its smooth, efficient ride quality.
“The first thing I noticed when heading out on my first ride was the flex from the lengthy D-Fuse seatpost,” Wilmott wrote. “The post’s D-shaped profile, which is 30mm wide and 25mm front front to back, provides a huge amount of seated compliance. Factor in the dropped and partly flattened seatstays, the forward position of the rear thru-axle and the 40mm tires, and you have a plush ride recipe.”
Beyond its smooth ride, Wilmott noted that the Revolt Advanced also felt quick and responsive on various road and gravel surfaces: “Plush ride comfort doesn’t mean speed is lacking, as the Revolt has Giant’s CXR-1 carbon wheelset, which arrived set up tubeless, as most Giants now can. These shallow, wide-rimmed wheels get the big tires spinning up to speed quickly, with great response to accelerations.”
