Hart Finishes World Cup Series on Podium!

22 augusztus 2011

Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Danny Hart closed out his 2011 World Cup Downhill Series in spectacular style, finishing second in Sunday's final round in Italy and moving up a spot to secure fourth place overall for the year.

Hart attacked the dry, dusty course in Val di Sole on his Giant Glory, thrilling the crowd with his on-the-edge style. He clocked a time of 3:11.6 in his finals run, just 1.2 seconds off American Aaron Gwin’s winning time.

Hart’s ride in Val di Sole put an exclamation point on a breakout season. In just his second year in the pro ranks the 20-year-old Brit racked up two second-place finishes (he also finished second in round 2 in Ft. William, Scotland) and made the podium in three of seven races.

Hart’s teammate Andrew Neethling also had a strong finish to his World Cup season, finishing ninth in Val di Sole. In his first season riding Giant the South African scored the best result of his career (third at round 5 in the U.S) and finished 15th overall.

The third member of the Giant Factory Off-Road Team’s downhill squad, American Duncan Riffle, finished the season 45th overall on the season.

Hart, Neethling and Riffle now turn their attention to the upcoming 2011 Mountain Bike World Championships, which will be held in Champery, Switzerland August 31-September 4.
