Bracht made his final race in Commerzbank colors one to remember.

Bracht Wins Aussie Ironman Race!

4 december 2011

Giant-sponsored triathlete Timo Bracht scored a major late-season victory Sunday at the Ironman Western Australia event in Busselton, Australia. The 36-year-old German came from behind to beat Australian Clayton Fettell and capture his seventh career Ironman victory.

Bracht rode his Giant Trinity Advanced SL to stay within striking distance of the lead during the bike leg, and then made up a 9-minute deficit with the day’s fastest run. He passed Fettell 32km into the marathon and eventually crossed the finish line with a time of 8:12:39, more than 7 minutes clear of second place.

“Australia is a great triathlon nation and it’s very special to win here,” Bracht said after competing in his first Australian Ironman race. “I will remember this day for a lifetime because the duels with Australians are legendary, and winning them is even more legendary.”

The day was made even more memorable for Bracht because it was his final race for the successful Commerzbank team, the powerhouse triathlon squad he has raced on for the last several years.

“It was my last race in Commerzbank colors, which gave me even more motivation,” Bracht said. “This great partnership deserved a great final today.”
