Joffrey’s love of cycling began in his grandparents’ bike shop, where he spent countless hours surrounded by cycling magazines. That early introduction planted seeds that would shape his entire life. His first race, Roc d’Azur for young cyclists, resulted in victory—a promising start to what would lead to 24 years of competitive racing.

Joffrey’s route to becoming France’s first certified bike fitter (by the International Bike Fitting Institute) came from his own personal fit struggles. After experiencing significant discomfort in his riding position, he began searching for solutions—first locally, then internationally. He was determined to help others avoid the frustrations he’d endured.

FITTING PHILOSOPHY

For Joffrey, bike fitting is more than just technical adjustments. Although he uses questionnaires as part of his bike-fitting process, the real magic can be found in his blend of physical assessments, which test symmetry and flexibility, combined with precise adjustments on the bike. His favorite part? Watching the transformation when a rider discovers their ideal position.

“The objective is to make the work as simple as possible for the cyclist,” Joffrey explains. “Bike fitting is all about optimizing the connection between you and your bike, so the machine submits to the human, not the other way around.”

It goes deeper than efficiency. He wants riders to leave with confidence, having tested different positions and understanding how small changes affect their comfort and performance. Every fit session comes with a guarantee: Clients can return for complementary adjustments if they ever need it.

This approach reflects Joffrey’s broader cycling philosophy, one inspired by the ancient Greeks. “I’m inspired by the Greek vision of life: the search for truth rather than simply living a life of pleasure,” he says. He believes cycling can cultivate admirable virtues and integrate seamlessly with work, family, and health. It’s not an escape from reality, but an essential part of it.

COMPETING FOR HIS COUNTRY

Joffrey’s list of competitive wins is impressive, too. His proudest moment was claiming a podium at the French National Cyclocross Championship in the U17 category during a comeback season after injuring his left ankle a few months before.

More recently, he qualified for the UCI Gravel World Championships in the elite category thanks to his performance at the World Cup in Millau. Despite the race being marred with technical difficulties, he demonstrated the mental strength that defines his approach to racing. “I don’t necessarily have exceptional physical capacities,” he claims with humility. “But I can compensate a lot through strategic finesse and a strong mental game when it counts.”

BUILDING COMMUNITY

Joffrey’s typical day reflects what he preaches. Mornings begin with a chill three-hour ride, taking in nature and sunlight before starting his bike-fitting work. His afternoons are dedicated to customers, each presenting unique physical characteristics and specific needs. His evenings are spent studying to take his knowledge even further.

Beyond the shop and his own riding, Joffrey is deeply invested in building a cycling community. Although he admits he’s concerned about cycling taking a similar path to other sports like football—pursuing profit over the essence of the sport itself—Joffrey is hopeful of certain disciplines within cycling (like gravel racing) that remain “a sport for sport’s sake, not for a career.”
