Dickson Repeats as Irish National DH Champ!

Teams/Riders

Riders from the Giant Factory Off-Road Team competed at various mountain bike national championships last weekend, earning podiums and national titles around the world.

Irishman Jacob Dickson led the way, earning his second straight elite national title at the Irish National Downhill Championships. It was the sixth national title for the 20-year-old including junior and Under-23 competition.

“I had such fun riding at home again for national championships,” said Dickson, who rode his Glory Advanced team bike and wore Giant Shuttle shoes. “I’m really happy to come away with my sixth national title. The track was so blown out and dusty, but such good fun.”

With Dickson’s win, the team now has two DH national championships, following Marcelo Gutierrez’s win in Colombia last month.

Adding to the medal count was Canadian McKay Vezina, who took home a silver medal at his nation’s enduro national championships. Vezina rode his Reign Advanced team bike and wore the Giant Line shoe.

In the U.S., cross-country rider Cole Paton was battling for a medal in the Under-23 men’s race at Snowshoe, West Virginia, before a flat tire caused him to lose contact with the lead group. The 20-year-old fought back on the rocky and technical course, riding his Anthem Advanced 29 Pro to a solid fifth-place finish.

Also representing the team at Snowshoe was veteran Carl Decker, who finished 17th in the elite men’s race on his Anthem Advanced Pro 29. Both Patton and Decker wore Giant Charge XC shoes.

Rounding out the team's efforts at U.S. Mountain Bike Nationals was DH racer Eliot Jackson, who finished 8th in the elite men’s race on his Glory Advanced team bike.
