Anthem Evolution: GMBN Video on an XC Legend
The Giant Anthem has been a mainstay in XC circles for more than a decade now. With the the latest iteration of this legendary XC bike, the 2018 Anthem 29 range, being launched last year, the Global Mountain Bike Network took a look at the history of the Anthem in a new video feature posted this week.
GMBN presenter Neil Donoghue got his hands on a 2007 Giant Anthem and the new 2018 Anthem Advanced Pro 29, and he took both to the trails to see how they compare. Neil details the original Maestro Suspension system on the 2007 model and talks about what a groundbreaking innovation it was back then.
Beyond that, Neil covers other innovations that began with that original Anthem, including the lightweight FluidForm alloy frame, an anodized finish to save weight, and its aggressive XC geometry of that era.
After some time on the throwback Anthem, Neil hopped on the 2018 model and described all the advancements including a carbon frameset and components, longer and lower geometry, updated Maestro Suspension with a trunnion mount shock, and tubeless wheel technology.
