Cycling Weekly, the UK's biggest weekly cycling magazine, rounded up the best road bikes worth less than £1.5k, putting them to the test to see which one provided the best performance and value for money. The TCR Advanced 2 (£1499) came out as the deserving winner, scoring a perfect 10/10 and announced as their ‘best on test’ bike, beating similar models from Cannondale, Cube and Scott on the way.
Coming in at just 7.8kg for an M/L size, the TCR Advanced came out as the lightest on test – thanks in part to the superb carbon composite frame. It’s not just light either, with the performance praised by Cycling Weekly; “The frame is incredibly efficient for climbing and accelerating”.
The combination of the frame and Shimano 105 components means that the TCR provides excellent riding performance, as they noted that the “cornering and descending can’t be faulted”.
Cycling Weekly rounded off the review with a perfect 10/10 rating, calling the TCR “A bona fide modern classic”. Read the full review in the latest edition of Cycling Weekly, available from newsagents or online subscription.
