The SLR 0 65mm wheels sit at the top of the range of wheelsystems offered by Giant. The aerodynamic nature of the wheels means that these are wheels for when speed really matters, and tester Simon Smythe certainly found this was the case, commenting that they are 'undoubtedly fast'. Furthermore, thanks to the inner rim width of 19mm, Simon found that the wheels remained stable in crosswinds, which can be an issue with some aero wheelsets on the market.
For an aero wheelset, the wheels are competitively light, which also grabbed Simons attention; 'I didn't notice any weight penalty at all on hills – and 1,620g is still pretty light for a wheelset in any case.'
While the wheels are delivered tubeless-ready, Simon opted to run them with inner tubes and found that fitting standard clinchers weren't an issue.
Simons verdict on the value of the wheels, at just £1,549.98 for the set, was that 'Giant is able to offer well-designed, high-quality products at competitive prices because of its place at the top of the bike industry pecking order. That goes for the SLR 0 wheels.'
