Gear Technologies & Features

Building on our over 40 years of expertise in the science of bicycle and bicycle component manufacturing, Giant introduces the Crest, our all-new, fully tunable suspension fork that brings plush action and precise control to more riders everywhere.

When your wheel hits a sharp or square edge, especially at speed, pinch flats and rim damage can occur. Wide Guard technology minimizes this risk by broadening the contact point between the rim and tire with a solid 5mm rim sidewall. That means you can skip the heavy tire inserts to have less unsprung weight on your bike and allow your suspension to perform better. The wide sidewalls also better protect your wheel from big impacts, reducing the possibility of rim damage.

Built-in storage securely holds eyewear when not in use, keeping them stable and easily accessible across varied terrain and riding conditions.

When engagement force was applied to determine how many cycles a hub can withstand before showing signs of significant wear, the TRX HE hub was five times more durable compared to benchmark competitors.

Mips® Air Node is a super light and slim helmet security system that moves 10-15 mm in relation to the helmet’s energy-absorbing layer, reducing the rotational forces that are otherwise transmitted to the brain during impact. Fully integrated into the helmet’s padding, Mips® Air Node is as light as possible and designed to fit each individual helmet model and size, making it virtually invisible until needed.

Exclusive to Giant and Liv helmets, Mips® Air Node Pro delivers advanced rotational impact protection while maintaining cooling and comfort. Using reengineered materials, COOLMAX® fiber, and smart-flow moisture channels with integrated Drop Zones, it helps keep riders cool and dry during high-intensity efforts. The lightweight system adds virtually no weight or bulk to highly ventilated helmets, while removable pads allow for quick cleaning and easy maintenance.

Magnetic Fidlock® helmet buckles are intuitive, pinch-free and can be opened or closed with one hand, even while wearing gloves.

In collaboration with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Virginia Tech Helmet lab tests helmets using the STAR evaluation system. The impact tests evaluate a helmet's ability to reduce linear acceleration and rotational velocity of the head resulting from a range of impacts a cyclist might experience. Helmets with more stars provide a reduction in concussion risk for these impacts, with 4 and 5 star ratings being the most highly recommended. Read more.
