Weight | The most accurate way to determine any bike’s weight is to have your local dealer weigh it for you. Many brands strive to list the lowest possible weight, but in reality weight can vary based on size, finish, hardware and accessories. All Giant bikes are designed for best-in-class weight and ride quality. |

Engineered with Giant’s innovative ALUXX SL aluminum technology, the Contend SL Disc frame delivers a confident ride quality that’s lightweight, compliant and balanced for a wide variety of road riding enthusiasts. Seamless disc-brake integration means more control regardless of road or weather conditions, and the innovative D-Fuse composite seatpost cuts down road vibrations, delivering a smoother, more efficient ride. Here’s a look at the key technologies that make Contend SL Disc the road bike that delivers performance for all.
State-of-the-art aluminum frameset material features best-in-class strength-to-weight ratios and unique welding technologies for a high-performance ride quality.
Frame geometry is specifically engineered to produce a balanced, all-rounder feel that blends confident rider positioning with agile cornering and acceleration.
Made with Advanced-grade composite and a hybrid alloy/composite OverDrive tapered steerer tube, this fork produces sharp steering and cornering capabilities with a smooth ride quality.
The frame and fork are engineered specifically for flat-mount disc brakes, offering the most reliable braking and handling in all types of weather and road conditions.
A massive rectangular-shaped downtube links together the OverDrive front end and PowerCore bottom bracket. This precisely engineered tube shape yields optimal steering and pedaling stiffness while minimizing overall frame weight.
The oversized bottom bracket/chainstay area features a fully integrated 86mm wide BB design. Asymmetric chainstays provide additional stiffness on the driveside and stability on the non-driveside.
This proprietary composite seatpost with a D-shaped shaft dampens vibrations, resulting in a smooth, compliant ride quality.
New internal cable routing with larger ports and a tool-free bottom bracket guide, designed for easy cable installation without any added weight.
Built-in rack mounts allow riders to customize with secure connection for fenders or racks, expanding capabilities for touring or commuting.

This High-Performance level, state-of-the-art aluminum material is made predominantly from 6011 alloy and delivers best-in-class strength-to-weight ratios. These framesets also feature unique welding technologies for a high-performance ride quality.
Introduced by Giant with the professional Team ONCE in the 1990s, Compact Road revolutionized the look and feel of high-performance road bikes forever. A downward sloping toptube (from the headtube to the seattube) creates smaller front and rear triangles for a lighter, stiffer bike. It also makes it easier for riders of all sizes to have a perfect fit.
The D-Fuse seatpost and handlebar were designed to function as a system, absorbing road shocks and vibrations so you can ride farther, faster.
Giant’s original oversized fork steerer tube technology. Designed to provide precise front-end steering performance, the system’s oversized headset bearings (1 1/4” lower and 1 1/8” upper for road, 1 1/2” lower and 1 1/8” upper for mountain) and tapered steerer tube work in conjunction to provide optimal steering stiffness.
