E-Lock is a digital security feature that helps protect your E-bike when parked. When activated, motor support is disabled, so the bike cannot provide pedal assistance until it is unlocked again.
How do I lock or unlock my E-bike?
You can lock or unlock your E-bike through the RideControl App or compatible RideControl controls once the bike is registered and paired to your account. Depending on your setup, you may also use a personalized PIN.
What happens if my phone battery dies or I lose my phone?
Your phone is not the only way to access your bike. You can still unlock your E-bike using compatible RideControl controls. If you get a new phone, log in with the same Giant ID to regain access.
Can more than one rider use E-Lock on the same E-bike?
Yes. Multiple riders can use E-Lock as long as they are logged in with the same Giant ID on their own devices. This keeps access linked to the registered account.
Does E-Lock physically lock the bike?
No. E-Lock disables motor support electronically, but it does not physically lock the frame or wheels. Always use a physical bike lock when leaving your E-bike parked.
What happens during service, component replacement or firmware updates?
Firmware updates do not prevent you from locking or unlocking the bike. E-Lock and registration data are stored within the Smart Gateway, and authorized Giant retailers can support service procedures when needed.
E-Lock adds an extra layer of digital protection, but it cannot guarantee theft prevention. It helps discourage unauthorized use and can register lock-related activity, but a physical lock is still recommended.
