Berasategui's new prototype Trinity Composite W is prepped and ready to go for the 2011 Ironman World Championships.

New Trinity Composite W Debuts in Kona

6 octubre 2011

Spanish triathlete Virginia Berasategui will race the all-new 2012 Liv/giant Trinity Composite W at the Ironman World Championships this weekend in Kona, Hawaii.

Berasategui, who partnered with Giant before the start of the 2011 season, has had a successful season to date, with two pro wins and a top-five finish at the Wildflower Triathlon in California earlier this summer.

“It’s been a great season so far,” Berasategui said. “Since I started riding Giant I have had the best results on my bike. Giant is constantly working on and developing new technologies to give athletes an edge, and I can’t wait to race the new Trinity Composite W.”

Hand-crafted with Giant Composite frame material, which uses T-600 raw carbon fiber to produce a lightweight, stiff and compliant ride, the Trinity Composite W is a new-for-2012 model in the Liv/giant women’s line.

The frame features Giant’s OverDrive oversized fork-steerer tube technology for front-end stiffness and steering precision, as well as a MegaDrive downtube and PowerCore bottom bracket/chainstay for maximum stiffness, efficiency and power transfer. And Giant’s proprietary SpeedControl braking system, a custom-designed reverse-position front brake and chainstay-mounted rear brake, delivers out-of-the-way, aerodynamic stopping power.

“I’ve been working with Giant Technical Manager Andy Wollny to get the bike set up perfectly for Kona,” Berasategui said. “I’m looking forward to racing it for the first time.”

Berasategui, a 36-year-old from the Basque region of Spain, is a multi-time World and European Champion in both triathlon and duathlon. She finished top-five at the Ironman World Championships in Kona the past two years and is aiming for the podium at this year’s race.

Also racing for Giant at Ironman Hawaii is two-time Ironman Europe Champion Timo Bracht. The German, who will race on the Trinity Advanced SL in Kona, has a handful of Ironman wins and finished sixth in Hawaii in both 2009 and 2010.

The complete series of 2012 Giant Trinity Composite men’s bikes and Liv/giant Trinity Composite W bikes will be available at Giant retailers in early 2012.
