Moorlag Scores Bronze at MTB Worlds!

2 septiembre 2011

Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team rider Henk Jaap Moorlag scored a bronze medal for The Netherlands Friday, riding his Giant XtC Composite 29er bike to third place in the Under-23 men’s XC race at the 2011 Mountain Bike World Championships in Switzerland.

Moorlag, who won a silver medal at the European XC Championships in Slovakia earlier this summer, is proving that, at age 21, he’s one of XC racing’s top young talents. He's currently fighting to make the Dutch Olympic team for the 2012 London Games, and his third-place ride in Champéry, Swizerland will help his cause.

Also riding well for The Netherlands on Friday was Moorlag’s Rabobank-Giant teammate Michiel Van Der Heijden. The 19-year-old, winner of the XC Junior World Championship race last year, finished 11th in his first World Championship race as an Under-23.

The 2011 Mountain Bike World Championships continues throughout the weekend. Look for Giant athletes representing their countries in upcoming downhill and cross-country competitions in Champéry.
