Giant Sponsors new Rabobank Women's Team

26 septiembre 2011

The Rabobank Cycling Team announced today that it is forming a new women’s pro team sponsored by Giant. The Rabobank Women’s Cycling Team will be led by Dutch star Marianne Vos, a multi-time World Champion in road and cyclocross.

The new team, which will begin competing in 2012, marks the latest partnership between Rabobank and Giant. It’s also the first pro women’s team to race under the Rabobank name. The Netherlands-based bank organization, a longtime supporter of competitive cycling, already sponsors a men’s ProTour road team as well as the Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team, which competes in World Cup cyclocross and mountain bike races.

“Giant and Rabobank share a deep commitment to the sport of cycling,” said Giant CEO Tony Lo. “Together, we have a history of supporting successful road, off-road and cyclocross programs, and we're happy to extend that support with a new world class women's road racing team.”

Vos, who won a silver medal at the Road World Championships in Copenhagen Saturday, has finished on the podium at each of the last six Road Worlds. The 24-year-old has also won three world titles in cyclo-cross racing.

In addition to Vos, the rest of the new Rabobank Women’s Cycling Team will be announced at a formal presentation of the team in early December at Rabobank’s Global Headquarters in The Netherlands.
