What's your favourite bike and why?
During this warm winter, it has been my Revolt Pro Force.... everything is gravel right now and the Revolt gives me the confidence to go fast and go anywhere!
What's your favourite place to ride and why?
Banff's Bow Valley parkway, the 1A highway is closed again for all public vehicles. it is a 100K+ road that is as smooth as glass with lots of climbs and a view that will take your breath away no matter how many times you ride it!
What's your must-have cycling accessory and why?
i will break this into winter and summer as I ride all year long and have never had a drivers license. Winter of course I dress for success, but it has taken me a while to get that right. Another key accessory is a great light. Since it gets dark at 5 pm and my commutes are through a provincial park with lots of wildlife, I really need an amazing light. The Recon HL 1800 has saved me more times then I can count. During the warmer months, my new Rev Pro Mips Helmet is a favourite. Not only does it look sharp it cools my head even with a cap underneath. I feel safe wearing it too and that is important as I am getting a little more cautious with my age;-)
What's your favourite bike discipline and why?
Road but it was All Mountain and it might become Gravel. I love the feeling of accomplishment after long road ride adventures with a few scenic pauses. Distance has become a goal of mine. I have road plenty of 300KM rides in a day but my new goal for 2021 is a 500KM ride. I call this my #goalsonthefly. With no planning ahead I will just wake up one day and make it happen!
I am a chef and love cooking over a fire in my spare time. I also eat a lot of pizza!
My goal has always to be a better me. Riding has given me back my health and has made me a better dad, husband, mentor and business leader. I am sure there is a few more bumps along the way but I am pretty happy with life right now!
Biggest cycling achievement
My yearly rides for No Kid Hungry "Chef's Cycle". Every year over 200+ Chefs get together to create awareness about childhood hunger and raise a bunch of money. It's a 480KM ride over 3 days. I would say this is my biggest achievement each year. I am looking forward to the next time we can all get together and do it again. Kids deserve to be kids and we can make a difference!
