With authentic off-road style and a comfortable fit, this helmet deLivers it all for aspiring adventurers. Integrated features including a camera mount and compatibility with the Giant Numen Link taillight make it easy to customize your ride.

Features

  • Trail-specific design with extended rear coverage
  • AirFlow ventilation combines 18 straight side vents to guide airflow through deep internal channels to keep riders cool at variable speeds
  • Removable, moto-style extended protection visor mounts cleanly to the sides and is infinitely adjustable on the move
  • Integrated goggle strap clip keeps the strap in position and prevents goggle from falling off in a fall
  • Low-speed and high-speed impact-tuned construction with Direct Support vents, optimized low-density EPS, and ultra-thin toughened polycarbonate shells all in-mold bonded together
  • Element Strap System (ESS) brings together Cinch Pro™, Optimal Position Y, and LiteForm™ webbing into one fit and retention system for superior fit and comfort right out of the box
  • Cinch Pro™ fit system offers optimal coverage by cradling the occipital bone for full protection, support and comfort
  • Lightweight LiteForm™ webbing wraps around the head better for a more secure fit
  • TransTextura Plus™ anti-microbial padding helps fight bacteria growth by pulling sweat from a rider’s head and transferring it through the AirFlow vents. The natural property of the fabric inhibits microbes that cause odors
  • Integrated camera mounting surface, GoPro mount compatible
  • Also available with MIPS technology

BRAIN PROTECTION SYSTEM

BRAIN PROTECTION SYSTEM Image

MIPS is a patented brain protection system designed to reduce rotational motion from angled impacts that can cause strain in the brain. MIPS mimics the brain’s own protection system inside the skull by adding a low-friction layer between the head and helmet. A helmet with MIPS can absorb more rotational motion from an angled impact.

MIPS REDUCES STRAIN TO THE BRAIN

MIPS REDUCES STRAIN TO THE BRAIN Image

The MIPS patented Brain Protection System was developed by some of the world’s leading researchers in biomechanics and neuroscience at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.

Strain level images from lab tests where two identical helmets, one with MIPS and one without, tested at the same speed show a clear difference. The more red, the more strain in the brain. A helmet with MIPS reduces the rotational motion transmitted to the brain.

WHAT HAPPENS ON IMPACT?

WHAT HAPPENS ON IMPACT? Image

When the head is subjected to an angled impact, the brain slides along a membrane on the inner surface of the skull, which reduces the rotational motion transmitted to the brain. This dynamic was copied and technically applied to create the MIPS Patented Brain Protection System. It is a low-friction layer between the head and helmet, which in experimental and numerical tests has shown a reduction of rotational motion to the brain.

PROTECTION IN ALL HELMET CATEGORIES

PROTECTION IN ALL HELMET CATEGORIES Image

In a helmet with MIPS Brain Protection System the shell and the liner are separated by a low friction layer. When a helmet with MIPS Brain Protection System is subjected to an angled impact, the low friction layer allows the helmet to slide relative to the head. The MIPS Brain Protection System doesn’t interfere with other properties of helmets, such as design and comfort. Since 1996, research and tests have been performed to compare a helmet with the MIPS Brain Protection System to a conventional helmet. The results showed that it was possible to reduce the rotational motion transmitted to the brain by adding the MIPS Brain Protection System.
