BikeRadar: New Anthem 29 "An Unapologetic XC Rocket"!
BikeRadar recently tested the 2018 Anthem 29, highlighting all the latest technologies of the revamped XC machine, and calling it “an unapologetic XC rocket.”
Reporting on the Anthem 29’s new overhauled Maestro suspension, BikeRadar staff writer Colin Levitch writes: “By moving to a longer shock stroke and 90mm of rear travel, Giant says it was able to lower the leverage ratio, allowing for reduced shock pressure and a wider range of usable rebound. At 25 percent sag, the shock is supportive, there is minimal bobbing in and out of the saddle and there’s decent traction too.”
Levitch also details the geometry updates to the new Anthem 29, and writes: “The first thing I noticed about the bike was how flickable the rear end felt. It’s confidence inspiring on descents and I immediately felt at home ripping into corners at speed and hitting jumps and drops. The geometry puts you in an aggressive position and the bike wants to go fast.”
Beyond the frame, Levitch also praised the Tubeless Ready Giant WheelSystem, writing: “To Giant’s credit, they are one of the few brands offering truly tubeless-ready wheels out of the box, meaning the wheels come with rim strips and valves installed—they even include two single-serving bottles of sealant in the box.”
