At Giant Group, the world’s leader in bike design and manufacturing, our engineers understand how important a reliable and safe battery is for an E-bike. We strive to not only meet the strictest industry standards for safety and environmental responsibility, but also to give you a great riding experience for the entire lifetime of your E-bike. Giant, Liv and Momentum electric bikes use batteries from the most trusted and experienced battery manufacturer available – Panasonic. From day one Giant Group has put an emphasis on safety and works closely with our partners to co-develop EnergyPak batteries specifically for our own E-bike platforms, resulting in batteries of the highest quality with the most up-to-date technology and safety features. Panasonic manufactures the complete battery, including the individual cells, the charger and the battery management system (BMS). Panasonic also assembles and tests the final structure so you know that with any Giant, Liv or Momentum E-bike you're riding a reliable and technologically advanced product manufactured to the highest safety standards.

ENERGYPAK E-BIKE BATTERY
DELIVERING YOU THE BEST IN POWER & SAFETY
UNDERSTAND WHAT MAKES THE ENERGYPAK A SMART BATTERY

OUR PROPRIETARY TECH PREVENTS OVERHEATING AND KEEPS YOU RIDING LONGER

The last thing you want is to have your E-bike battery overheat and breakdown. Therefore, our engineers developed a unique and proprietary technology that keeps the battery cells seperated (unlike many of our competitors) to help reduce the risk of overheating. In this way, even if one cell becomes overheated, it won’t spread to the others.
FIRE-RETARDANT SEPARATOR
REDUCED EXPOSURE TO OVERHEATING
A fire-retardant separator covers the row of cells, sealing it off and preventing it from affecting other cells in the case of extreme heat.
Battery Comparison
UNIQUE TECHNOLOGY GIVES YOU PEACE OF MIND
Left side (Ours): each cell is physically separated for superior safety. Right side (Many of theirs): many cells are placed in direct contact with each other, increasing the risk of thermal runaway.
CYCLING IS ALL ABOUT EFFICIENCY AND SO IS OUR BATTERY SYSTEM

When you’re out for a long ride, the last thing you want is for your battery to have issues. Our batteries will keep you going as they are designed for maximum efficiency and will prevent overheating. We even have smart sensors that detect if the temperature is getting too high and won’t allow recharging until the temperature is returned to normal.
WORRIED ABOUT WATER?

Don’t be. Our batteries are IPX5 and IPX6 rated meaning they’re tightly sealed to ensure water can’t get in. And even if the outside case gets damaged, there is a waterproof sleeve to provide an additional layer of protection.
SMART CHARGING

Unfortunately all battery’s efficiency will decline over time and with use. Giant’s Smart Charging and Battery Management System automatically makes adjustments in charge voltage and current, keeping the pressure stable. This helps to reduce risk, ensures battery efficiency and optimizes lifespan.
KEEP YOUR BATTERY HEALTHY AND EXTEND LIFESPAN

Need to store your E-bike over the winter or for an extended period of time and worried about how that will impact the battery? Storing your battery long term at 0% or 100% can put unnecessary strain on the cells. It’s best to store at a 60% charge level (3 of 5 LED’s). You can run the battery down to this level by riding or, if you have a Smart Charger or Smart Charger Compact, you can simply use the “Long term storage” mode button.
*It’s important to note that once your EnergyPak has reached the 60% storage charge level, it should be disconnected. Leaving your battery on a charger and plugged into a power source for extended periods of time (i.e. multiple days/weeks/months) can decrease or harm battery health and overall service life.
HANDLING AND CARE
To make sure your battery and charger continue to function at their best for many years, please pay careful attention to the following handling and care tips:

CHARGING
● Use only the battery and charger that were originally supplied with your E-bike or the recommended spare or replacement battery and charger supplied by an authorized Giant E-bike dealer or service center. ● When charging your EnergyPak battery off the bike, we advise you make a habit of plugging the battery adapter into the battery first and the charger into a power source second. ● Do not cover or place objects on top of the battery while charging. ● Do not charge your battery around flammable materials. ● If you notice anything unusual, stop the charging procedure immediately and contact an authorized Giant E-bike dealer or service center.

DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING
● Please dispose of your used batteries according to local ordinances and/or regulations. ● Giant Group Canada was the first Canadian bicycle company to partner with Call2Recycle to offer responsible recycling and disposal of your E-bike’s battery. When any Giant, Liv or Momentum E-Bike battery reaches its end of life simply bring it to an Authorized Canadian Giant Retailer for free disposal. It's just one of the ways Giant is moving towards a more sustainable future.
