After testing the top new mountain bikes of 2018, the editors of Bicycling Magazine have named their favorites, whittling their list down to the best performing models on the market today. The new Reign SX enduro bike made the final selection, chosen as one of the 18 best mountain bikes of the year.
“If you like gravity descents, enduro racing, and park riding, you’ll probably love Giant’s new Reign, which has upgraded geometry and a new suspension layout,” wrote Bicycling editors. “The old frame was already pretty slack and low, so the new version gets just a little longer reach for extra stability and confidence at speed and in the rough.”
Bicycling detailed some of the key new updates to the 160mm Maestro Suspension system on the new Reign SX, including the Advanced Forged Composite upper rocker arm and trunnion-mount shock. Paired with a 170mm suspension fork, the new suspension setup “lets you take this bike off the deep end without worrying much about the consequences,” Bicycling wrote. “It sucks up even the worst landings and compensates for bad line choices.”
