Warren Barguil

8th overall, 2014 Vuelta a España

In recent years Barguil has emerged as of the most promising young stage race talents from France. In 2012 he won the Tour de l'Avenir, adding his name to a list of other great champions like Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain and Laurent Fignon who have also won the "Tour of the Future." In 2013 Barguil marked his arrival at the elite ranks by winning two stages at the Vuelta a España. And he continued his rise over the last few years, becoming a GC leader for the team.

“There’s a lot involved in the transition from being a talented rider to becoming a leader within the team," he says. "This is not only a physical process, but a mental process too. The more experienced riders like Roy Curvers, Bert de Backer and Johannes Fröhlinger helped me and gave me valuable advice. It’s not always easy to be a GC rider, because you don’t win very much. You have to learn to be proud of a nice classification.”
