The Pioneer NZ is one of the toughest multi-day mountain bike races in the world! Taking place in the South Island of New Zealand, the event is a race which sees riders tackle over 500km of off-road terrain and climb over 15,000m vertical. Competitors aren't alone though, they take on the challenge with a partner and race together as a pair! This brings a whole different challenge to an already challenging event.

The founder of Cyclingtips Wade Wallace & former Australian National Road Champion Allan Iacuone took on the event for the first time this year. Both are strong riders but not so used to the demands of off-road racing as they're most comfortable on the road! What could go wrong!? Click through to see the full feature over on Cyclingtips.

Wade & Allan rode all stages of the event on our 2019 Anthem Advanced Pro 29er 1 XC race bikes which performed faultlessly throughout the entire event. The guys also wore our Rev helmet which offers not only outstanding protection but superior ventilation as well.

Both guys will now look to take on the Cape Epic event in 2019, a similar pairs event held in South Africa and arguably much tougher!
