Sam Appleton wins Challenge Melbourne!
Super tough conditions greeted competitors at Challenge Melbourne yesterday as they lined up for a crack at the Asian-Pacific Championship title in the bayside suburb of St Kilda. Soggy and windy conditions made the bike course super tough but Giant sponsored athlete Sam Appleton kept calm and set a super fast bike time on his Trinity Advanced Pro to break up the race.
Sam headed out onto the 21.1km run course in the lead and held off a fast charging Dan Wilson to take his second win of the year in authoritive fashion.
As part of Giant Australia's sponsorship of the event we held a 'Guess and Win' competition at the Challenge Melbourne expo on the Saturday where people had to guess Sam's time and whoever came closest took home a Giant prize pack worth over $600 RRP. Jenny Kelly was the successful winner guessing within 5 seconds of Sam's race winning time!
Sam will now head back over to the USA and train in Boulder as he prepares himself for the 70.3 World Championships that are to be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee in September.
