Sam Appleton 4th at IM 70.3 World Championship!

Teams/Riders

Chattanooga, Tennessee was the venue for the 2017 Icy Hot IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship which attracts the world's best long course athletes as they give it their all for a chance at taking home the prestigious world title. With a field boasting former IRONMAN World Champion Sebastian Kienle, world record holder Tim Don and Olympic silver medallist Javier Gomez from Spain the race was always going to be a spectacle.

Giant sponsored athlete and Aussie Sam Appleton came into the event after a fantastic year of racing featuring multiple 70.3 victories and gave it his all in order to take on the world's best. Sam began with a strong swim exiting the water within a minute of the race leaders. Onto the bike Sam worked with the chase pack to try and bridge across to early leader Ben Kanute from the USA who set a super fast pace. Sam utilised his strong bike leg setting a top 5 fastest time with his Trinity Advanced Pro and Giant Rivet TT helmet which helped set him up brilliantly for the tough two-lap run course.

After a heated battle with Tim Don from Great Britain and Maurice Clavel from Germany, Sam ran down the finishing chute in a career best 4th at the IM World Championship!
