Luke Durbridge scored the first major podium of the year for the Team BikeExchange-Jayco men’s squad. The 30-year-old Aussie powered his new Trinity Advanced Pro time trial bike to a silver medal at the 2022 Australian Men’s National Time Trial Championship. Durbridge led a strong showing by Giant riders in the TT, road race and criterium events.

The Australian National Road Championships were held in Ballarat, Victoria. Durbridge was there making his debut for Team BikeExchange-Jayco, which announced its partnership with Giant at the start of this year. The four-time national champ in the time trial put up a solid fight against Rohan Dennis, blazing the 37.5km course to finish second behind his rival.

“I was hoping for the win today, but Rohan was on a very good ride,” said Durbridge, who rode his Trinity Advanced Pro team bike and wore the Giant Rivet TT helmet. “He’s world class and one of the best time trial riders in the world. Sometimes at nationals I can get the better of him, but not this year.”

Durbridge also put in a strong top-10 ride in the men’s road race, claiming seventh behind the day’s winner Luke Plapp of the Ineos Grenadiers team.

Also representing Giant at the road nationals was Brendan Johnston, who turned in impressive top-10 performances in the road race and criterium on his TCR Advanced SL Disc team bike. Johnston, who focuses more on XC mountain bike competition, wore the Giant Rev Pro helmet for both events. He earned bronze in the men's road race and finished ninth in the criterium.
