Giant sponsored Triathlete Aaron Royle has made history winning the Noosa Triathlon for a third time! The Noosa Triathlon & Multisport Festival attracts thousands of competitors and spectators from all around Australia and it remains the largest of its type in the country. After taking out consecutive victories in 2013 & 2014, Aaron was keen to leave his mark on one of his favourite events yet again. A strong elite field gathered to try and take out the coveted crown of being a Noosa Triathlon winner.
After a strong swim exiting with the front pack, Aaron set off riding a strong bike leg on his Trinity Advanced Pro over 40kms. Riding one of the quickest bike legs, Aaron was well placed heading out onto the 10km run. He looked strong and in control towards the final kilometres when all of a sudden things took a slight turn. "I had to go the a pretty dark place in the last 2km to hold onto this one. Out of my 3 Noosa wins this one is probably my proudest. Not feeling the best all day, I was still able to race to my strengths and when the body was shutting down in the closing stages of the race I was able to keep fighting, even when there was little left in the tank to fight with."
Aaron crossed the finish line in first place just seconds ahead of second place finisher Max Neumann with Ryan Bailie not far behind in third. The win at Noosa saw Royle take out the Nepean, Noosa double. A feat not many in the sport have achieved. He'll now enjoy a bit of time off before commencing training for next year's WTS season and his goal of making the 2020 Olympic team for Tokyo.
