Giant has partnered with Blanco, the next generation of the old Rabobank team, to support some of the sport's best young talent at cycling's biggest events.
Giant has supported the organization for the past five years, winning world championships and major one-day and stage races along the way. In turn, riders from Rabobank, and now Blanco, play an integral role in keeping Giant at the forefront of innovative, high-performance road cycling bikes and gear.
The team races a variety of Giant bikes that its riders have helped develop, including the legendary Giant TCR Advanced SL,the enduranc-oriented Defy Advanced SL, and, new for 2013, the Propel Advanced SL aero road bike. For time trial events, riders use the Trinity Advanced SL.
The 2013 Blanco team is a balanced blend of experience and young talent, stage racers and single-day threats. Bunch finishes will be made interesting by Dutch sprinter Theo Bos and his supporting cast including Aussie speedster Mark Renshaw.
Returning riders this year include GC leader Robert Gesink, who last year won the Tour of California; Spaniard Luis Léon Sanchez, who won the Clasica San Sebastian twice and has four career Tour de France stage wins; and classics specialist Lars Boom.
Blanco's status among the world's top road racing teams makes it a perfect fit for Giant. With a pedigree of champions and a diverse roster of stage racers, sprinters, climbers and classics specialists, the team plays a major role in Giant's efforts to create, develop and test innovative new products at the highest levels of competition.
