A

Benefit: Minimal frame weight for lightning-fast acceleration and ascending prowess.
The Inside Line: To minimize weight, Giant engineers use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and a complex lay-up schedule of Uni-Directional (UD) and composite weave to place the precise amount of composite material where you need it, and minimize material excess where you don’t.

B

Benefit: A careful balance of forgiving vertical compliance and efficient lateral stiffness is carefully engineered into every frame.
The Inside Line: Layering makes the difference. Giant’s hand-cut composite swatches are laid-up piece-by-piece to create each frame. By precisely layering each individual swatch (there are over 500 pieces per frame) in a precise schedule, the frame’s ride qualities are meticulously crafted.

C

Benefit: Fewer pieces mean less chance of failure down the road. The Inside Line: With formulaOne Technology, less is more. Giant uses aluminum sleeves only in the bottom bracket and headtube cups where metal-to-metal mechanical connections are necessary. This reduces weight and the possibility of corrosion considerably over other composite frames that rely on heavy alloy reinforcements.

D

Benefit: Lugless composite construction yields a straighter and stronger frame for improved tracking and long-term piece of mind.
The Inside Line: formulaOne Composite Technology doesn’t rely on lugs to join its tubes, so your frame is lighter, stronger and straighter than “assembled” bicycles. Instead, Giant uses a single air bladder to form a one-piece front triangle that all but eliminates the opportunity for “voids” and misalignment to exist.

E

Benefit: A composite-wrapped bottom bracket ensures critical strength.
The Inside Line: The BB connection is a high-stress area where most stress failures occur in glued, lugged composite frames. Chainstays are joined to the BB through a process called “wrapping,” not lugs. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) computer analysis ensures rigidity, a complex Uni-Directional (UD) and woven composite lay-up schedule ensures frame compliance.
