Giger Top-10 at World Cup XC Finals

Riders from the Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team scored a pair of top-10 finishes at Saturday’s World Cup Cross-Country Series Finals in Val di Sole, Italy. Swiss rider Fabian Giger was 10th in the elite men’s race, and Dutch U-23 Champion Michiel Van der Heijden was 10th in the Under-23 men’s race.
Giger and Van der Heijden also led the way in the overall series rankings, finishing 16th and 13th in their respective categories.
In Saturday’s pro men’s race, Giger battled the hot temperatures and tough climbs of the Val di Sole course, riding his Giant XtC Advanced SL to a top-10 in the pro men’s race. Dutch rider Henk Jaap Moorlag was the next best team rider in 16th. Overall, the team finished fourth in the team rankings for the finals race in Italy.
Also riding Giant in the elite men’s race was British Olympian Liam Killeen of the Giant Factory Off-Road Team. Killeen raced to 28th place on his XtC Advanced SL, finishing the World Cup season 23rd overall.
In elite women’s racing, American Katie Compton and New Zealander Rosara Joseph finished the World Cup series 24th and 31st overall.
