Lindgren got his 2011 season off to a winning start.
Emil Lindgren of Sweden led a successful outing for the Rabobank-Giant Off-Road team at Sunday’s opening race of the British MTB Series in Sherwood Pines.
Lindgren scored the victory at the popular U.K. event, edging out teammate Marco Minnaard of The Netherlands by 38 seconds. Another Dutch Rabobank-Giant rider, Junior World Champion Michiel van der Heijden, finished sixth, and Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Liam Killeen was eighth, giving Giant four of the top-eight finishers.
“I decided to shake things up from the start and attacked at the first singletrack,” Lindgren said. “It worked out well and I found myself alone at the front for the rest of the six laps.”
Lindgren’s win followed a week in The Netherlands, where the team was introduced to the media on March 24.
