Hart had a near-perfect run in the sloppy conditions at Fort William.

Hart Podiums at Fort William World Cup!

Downhill World Champion Danny Hart of the Giant Factory Off-Road Team had his best World Cup result so far this season Sunday in Fort William, Scotland, finishing a close second and moving up four places in the overall standings.

Hart, riding special edition Giant Glory race bike that features graphics and design to support the UK charity Help for Heroes, had a fantastic run on a wet, slippery course. The 20-year-old Brit was racing his first World Cup on home turf since he won the World Championship title last September. His second-place finish matched his second-place ride at Fort William last year, which was his first-ever World Cup podium.

Hart said after his run that he was going for the win in the thick mist at Fort William, but in finishing just .8 seconds off the winning time, he moved up to fourth-place overall in the series.

“I was coming down thinking it was going well, and it was a good run,” Hart told Cyclingnews.com after the finish. “I just wish I could have gone eight-tenths faster.”

Hart’s teammate Andrew Neethling of South Africa also had a solid finals run, finishing 13th, his best-ever finish at Fort Willliam. Neethling is now 15th overall in the series after three rounds, giving the team two top-15 riders before the next round in Mont-Ste-Anne, Quebec, Canada.
