Emmett, Beckingsale lead the way
Riders from the Giant Factory Off-Road team had a busy weekend, scoring podium finishes on two different continents.
In the U.S., Kelli Emmett had one of her best performances yet, beating the Texas heat to finish second in the Elite Women’s Cross-Country race at the Mellow Johnny’s Classic Pro XCT event in Austin. With temperatures in the 90s Fahrenheit, Emmett paced herself perfectly, surging past several World Cup contenders to finish second behind Georgia Gould.
Meanwhile, Emmett’s British teammate Oli Beckingsale won the third round of the British Cross Country Series in the mud at Margam Park. On a course that’s considered one of the toughest in the British XC Series, Beckingsale battled fellow former UK Champion Liam Killeen and eventually edged him out by just 41 seconds.
The win was a big boost for Beckingsale, who suffered an illness in the early spring and struggled through the early World Cup rounds. HIs performance at Margam Park showed he’s back on form.
