Theo Bos’s evolution as a top professional sprinter continues. The four-time world champion track sprinter teamed up with his Rabobank teammate and leadout man Graeme Brown again on Thursday to win his second stage at the Tour of Oman stage race.
Bos, who rejoined the Rabobank team at the start of this season, followed Brown’s leadout at the end of the 208km Stage 3 in Sur, then hit the front early, nearly 300 meters from the line. The Dutch sprinter powered his Giant TCR Advanced SL to the line, holding off Italian Daniel Bennati and Australian Matthew Goss to take the win.
Afterward, Bos said he has the speed to compete with the very best in the world, and now he just needs more experience in the field sprints. With the veteran Brown at his side, Bos's confidence seems to be growing with every race.
Meanwhile, another one of Rabobank’s young sprinters—Australian neo-pro Michael Matthews—also put in an impressive performance on Thursday. The Under-23 World Champion finished third in Stage 2 of the Volta ao Alvarve stage race in Portugal. Matthews ended the day fifth overall in the five-day race, which finishes on Sunday.
