Rabobank-Giant rider Lars Boom continued his condensed cyclocross season with a top-10 finish on his Giant TCX Advanced SL at round 6 of the World Cup in Zolder, Belgium. The 2008 cyclocross World Champion is racing a handful of ’cross events as part of his build-up to the 2012 road racing season.
Each year the World Cup holds a Boxing Day event in Belgium. Monday’s race was held in Zolder, home to a motor racing track that has hosted F1 events. Despite his lack of ’cross racing this season, Boom made his way to the front of the group and battled for the lead most of the day. In the end, he sprinted to a seventh place finish. Boom’s teammates Bart Aernouts and Gerben de Knegt finished 11th and 18th respectively.
