Wild again proved too fast for her competitors, beating Italian Barbara Guarischi (second) and Brit Elisabeth Armistead (third) to the line.

Wild Wins Again at Energiewacht Tour!

10 April 2014

Kirsten Wild of the Team Giant-Shimano women’s squad scored her second straight stage win Thursday at the Energiewacht Tour stage race in The Netherlands. Wearing the yellow leader’s jersey after she won Wednesday's opening stage of the five-day race, Wild again powered to the sprint victory on her Liv/giant Envie Advanced.

Thursday’s Stage 2 featured three laps of a 39km circuit in and around the town of Wedde. Just like in Stage 1, the peloton was fractured into groups several times throughout the day, and in the end it came down to a bunch sprint.

“Today was the way I like to race,” Wild said afterward. “Lots of action, full gas and then sprint it out at the end,”

Wild’s teammates were once again up to the task, setting her up perfectly to take the win and extend her lead in the general classification.

Willeke Knol did a great job on her birthday to start the lead-out and then Amy Pieters and Sara Mustonen finished it off perfectly,” Wild said. “A great effort by the team and hopefully we can do the same again tomorrow morning.”
